Shaun Lamont, RMT
Shaun as a Massage Therapist:
Shaun’s approach to treatment is one of understanding that not everyone’s experience with pain, discomfort, and challenges in their healing journey, is the same from person to person. As such he prides himself in having a wide variety of tools and techniques to help people achieve their wellness goals. He is a big believer in the narrative that it doesn’t have to hurt to be helpful. He believes that Massage Therapy Treatments should be both relieving AND effective. Shaun is passionate about Fascial non-oil techniques that address restrictions and limitations in various layers of connective tissue that are invested and connected all throughout our bodies.
Shaun also has a particular interest in which he has undertaken advanced Training courses in, and finds he is most effective when working with Neurological conditions, those living with persistent pain, and those suffering from Neck and Shoulder concerns. However he is more than happy to work with any presentation and demographic.
Shaun brings to the table over 5 years of experience as a former instructor and supervisor at the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy - Teaching a variety of hands-on practical treatment classes, helping to educate and promote the Massage Profession as a whole. As such, patient education is a big part of his treatment approach as he feels this helps give people the tools and empowers them to help manage their presentations and get them back to the things they love.
Shaun’s own healing journey:
Shaun originally sought out Massage Therapy Treatments prior to becoming an RMT himself, in order to help him manage a rather severe Lower Back injury that he had acquired through his work in the trades sector. Barely unable to stand sit or walk without discomfort, Shaun found that it was Massage Therapy that helped him recover quicker and eventually be pain-free and get back to living his life to the fullest. It was through the treatment and rehabilitative home-care exercises given to him by his RMT and how they impacted his well-being that he made the decision that he wanted to help others in the way he was helped himself.
Shaun outside:
When not treating patients, or tutoring students and prospective RMTs, Shaun can be found getting active outdoors, hiking, exploring, paddleboarding, attending a yoga class or hitting the gym. His positive energy can light up a room and he is passionate about helping others live their best lives.
